I was also angry: how dare they threaten my life! I was usually calm when I listened to these people, the pure repetitiveness of the threat lessened the impact. I was calm when I thought about someone killing me.
It was cold, yet I had no intention of going back inside. I often pulled those escape acts. Was I mad? Or was it a sane reaction to an insane world? LONER Instead of spending time with friends, who I felt were involved in something archaic and evil, I began to take drives down to the beach late into the night, and listen to the radio for clues. When I heard one, I gave ‘thumbs up’ to indicate that I had received the message, and it was OK to elaborate or move onto the next one. I wondered how they knew which radio station I was listening to.
LACK OF INSIGHT Later that day I was on a break. I smoked three ciggies during the ten minutes. ‘Telephone call for you’re-an-artist,’ blared across the loudspeaker.
